The Season of Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, beginning on Ash Wednesday and ending on Holy Saturday. Lent in 2014 will start on Wednesday, the 5th of March and will continue until Saturday, the 19th of April. Lent comes from the AngloSaxon word lencten, which means "spring." The forty days represent the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, ending the temptation of Satan and preparing to begin his ministry. learn more
